"cause rose trees never grow," portrays a desolate street in a bleak and melancholy environment. The scene is for the most part forsaken with only a hint of human existence in the distance, depicted by the lights spilling through the apartment windows and out into the city. The painting was inspired by the Elton John song, "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters," which emphasizes the loneliness of New York City life.
