That’s Just How It Is- This is Who I Am
Yes, I have yet another injury to add to my list. Ten broken fingers, one broken elbow, one pulled knee, a lower back sprain, and a tear in my shoulder. It can be rough and stressful and tiring, but I love my sport too much to let these affect me. I’m a volleyball player for the UCLA Women’s team. I have never been so happy in my life- not only am I going to my dream school (I told my dad I wanted to go to UCLA when I was 10), but I’m playing my favorite sport for the school team! This is the most incredible experience of my life.
I have to thank my beliefs for helping me achieve this dream. I believe in strength, respect, love, trust, perseverance, friendship and family. Without these, I wouldn’t be the same person I am today. I always try to fight for what I believe in and to never give up on my goals. These beliefs help be a better volleyball player as well. Without the strength, love, trust, respect, perseverance, and friendship of your team, you cannot succeed. And without the support of my family (who are my most favorite people in the world), I would not be living my dream right now.
I won’t ever stop fighting. My unwillingness to give up got me to achieve my dream of coming to UCLA as a student-athlete. Of course I’ve had some bumps and bruises on the way (well more than “some”) but I will gladly take the pain to be happy. That’s just how it is. That’s just how I am. Without any pain, there is no gain. And I absolutely love it.
