Why I Do What I Do
Why do I do what I do? Because I love it and am proud of the decisions I make. I have always been in the mind set that a person in this society should always make his or her own decisions in whatever he or she may do because YOU are the only person who can truly affect what YOU do and how YOU live. I do agree that we should listen to the advice of others, chew on it, evaluate it. But when game time comes, the path we choose is completely up to us. As Aristotle once said, “it is the mark of a truly educated mind to be able to entertain a thought even without accepting it.” We have the ability to make our own decisions on issues while still being able to see the views from both sides and not jumping to irrational conclusions. Anyway, my name is Scott and I play water polo, a lot. Water polo has been my life for as long as I can remember because I love everything about the game: the physicality, the strategy, the excitement, the mental discipline, and even the rigorous training. Water polo is not only what I do, but it also defines who I am. Outside of my immediate family, my teammates are the ones I have the strongest relationships with because we go through everything together and share the same passion for the sport. Water polo is what got me to this school and has been my consistency throughout my life. Whatever I have gone through, my sport has always been there. When life throws me lemons, I play water polo because, right now, it is my most reliable source of happiness and accomplishment.
