Personally, I love underground hip hop because it has a meaning to why the artists are rapping and what they represent from this society and such. Their lyrics have meaning compared to mainstream where they always discuss about women, rape, party, drinking, etc.

I agree with that. I don't listen to it that much, but a lot of my friends do and mainstream hiphip isnt real hiphop, its commercialism. But i really like Lady gaga, and not because shes poppy and cool, but because everything she does has meaning and goes so deep. You can literally anazlyze EVERYTHING she does, from her performances, to her songs, to her clothes. She wants everything to have something beneath the surface and to have a point. So i love that.
I appreciate music that is difficult for others to replicate which is why I admit that I truly appreciate Lady Gaga for her creative style. I also like songs that come from an experience because the lyrics feel more personalized.
I'm sort of a band geek. I like listening to concert band repertoire like the stuff the Wind Ensemble plays. I just think its epic. It is also the music that inspired me to keep playing in high school and a little bit in college (time permitting), so I guess it its an art form that has a special personal meaning to me.
I also like many different genres of music but I specifically listen to Cantonese Pop. It is something that helps to tie me with my culture and I really enjoy the lyrics to a lot of Cantonese songs.
I usually enjoy listening to most of the songs on the top 40 charts. I am not too heavily into rap or country music. I like songs with a catchy tune because they end up being fun tunes to sing to and listen to as well.
I really like Uffie's music. I find that its representation of a wasteful and, in a way, glamorous lifestyle interesting. It reminds me of the heroin chic fad of the1990s. I also find listening to someone with a 14 year old's voice reciting vulgar lyrics very entertaining.
