Contemporary Art

This past weekend I visited the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). This sculpture is outside in the court yard area of the museum. What do you think about it? Is it just a collection of old air plane parts or is there more to it?

I think it's fine to have this kind of weird art as long as the artist focuses on the communication of a message, not just on the eccentricity of his work.

i think most contemporary art, like this, is just dependent on the meaning each person gives it, whether its right or wrong, and always up for interpretation

This is a wild photo. I really like it, it kind of reminds me of something you would see in the movie Transformers, or Battle L.A. Very interesting piece!!

Truly unique, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this. This artist made something out of nothing by using wasted material to make a very interesting piece of art.

I agree that there is definitely more meaning behind this piece than one can see with just looking at it. Though, I do view it a 3-D art collage. I visited the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and they had a similar piece projecting from the side of the building that amazed me.

  If you look at it from really far away, it looks like a sea urchin. I once stepped on a sea urchin, and it was truly terrifying.

  Wow this piece is really interesting! I feel like it takes a lot more than just creative ability to be able to suspend the canoes like that.

  the creative ability comes when moving the piece, but i think that anyone can put a bunch of stuff together and call it art.

  I agree that anyone can put together a bunch of random artifacts or parts and call it a unique piece, but in this case I feel that there is more to it than that. The ways all of the canoes are angled, painted and suspended takes someone who really knows what they are doing.
