Class Performances

Hey guys, we've been through two days of student performances now. What do you think of them? I've really enjoyed some of them. I think some of the best have been people that aren't afraid to be weird or embarrass themselves in front of the class. One of my favorites was the one where the A&A student was reviewing for the final and the rest of her group acted out some memorable things from our class, very funny! What ones do you guys think have been the best so far?

  • It's interesting that so many people volunteered to be onstage with 5-6 hundred people watching. Some were funny, interesting, and some were, unfortunately, a little bit weak. But I applaud all the students who had courage to go onstage and perform. The one that caught my eye was the group that parodied the class.
  • I like the Korean Pride one because it was truly energetic and the audience had fun with it. That's what matters most right? The viewers?
  • I really liked the BOllywood skit that was preformed on Monday. I thought it was going to be lame but it turned out to be really funny. It must have taken them some time to put together that whole act and it showed.  I think that this has been one of the better acts and is probably going to get my vote.
  • Some of the performances were actually really interesting! What really surprised me was the Indian groups. I think I may have a thing for indian pop, as it the rhythm and beats were very upbeat and a song that made me want to move my body to.

The performances that also included a lot of humor caught my attention too, particularly the ones that the entire class could refer too. It was almost like an inside joke, but one that only the students of AA10 would understand which made it cool.

  • I thought today's performances were some of the best. They did cross the line a little bit with overdoing some stereotypes but I thought for the most part they were really funny. I liked the one about the athlete and nerd because it poked fun at some of the students in the class and rumors about the class.
    • I agree with you completely about the stereotype parodies - after going overboard with them, they stop being as funny.

The performances with inside jokes about the class always seem to get a lot of laughs, though, because everyone knows what the skit is poking fun at.

  • I have really enjoyed these student performances so far. I liked the Indian Bhangra dancers the best because they had a lot of quick dance moves to memorize and they performed really well. Props to everyone who has performed, especially those who sang or danced with no prior experience, that takes guts.
  • Yeah these performances are pretty interesting. I didn't realize that with so many students and brains, how there can be so many different genres for their performances. For example, the bipolar one just seemed completely random, but at the same time, so neat because it was so different and unique. The fact that most of these people aren't afraid to perform in front of 500 students is awesome because it's college and it should be fun.
  • I'm pretty impressed by how many people were willing to get up onstage and perform despite not having experience. While there were definitely weak performances, I've been enjoying them so far. I've enjoyed the class parodies and the Bhangra dancing as well.
  • I think a Flashback in Time was the best so far because it incorporated a lot of different types of art that we've learned about, plus they were pretty funny and talented as well.  But like everyone else has been saying, going up on stage in the first place is courageous.  I give props to those who weren't afraid to step outside of their comfort zone and were able to have a good time up there.  In my opinion, only a few were bad, the majority were ok.
