Favorite Instrument?

For the longest time, I've always wanted to play an instrument, but it's just one of those things that never happened. I always thought that it was because I have this preconceived notion that I'm rhythm deaf or tone deaf, or both. However, I do enjoy listening to the piano and violin more than any other instrument.

It's probably because some of my favorite songsn contain great piano and violin melodies, but they have a sound that has something unique about them.

Hence, I wanted to ask you guys, what's your favorite instrument and why?

You don't necessarily need to know how to play it.

  • My favorite instruments would be the piano and the violin. I actually have been playing the violin since 5th grade and I've grown a lot with learning to play it. I've definitely developed a great appreciation for classical music and the various instruments that comprise it. I wish I had also learned to play the piano because it offers such harmonious sounds and you can play such a vast array of music with it.
  • I think my favorite instrument is the piano. I've attempted to learn how to play a few times but lose motivation when it gets too hard. I admire those who can play it flawlessly. I love that it is such a versatile instrument and can be used in so many different styles and genres of music. Hopefully one day I'll be able to play it!
  • My favorite instrument is the violin. I guess it is because I played it for many years. I am able to appreciate the complex violin parts in music and I understand what it is like to play it. I can express myself through the instrument, and I feel I can feel the emotions of the violinist playing as well.
  • I played the piano for 2-3 years, the violin for 1 year, and the alto sax for 1 year.

I really enjoyed playing each of these instruments but I lacked the motivation to keep practicing. I liked the sound the best out of the alto sax. It was relatively easy to play, not that heavy, looked awesome and shiny, and sounds really full. Also, even beginners can instantly jazz up something by improvising and not playing on the beats.

Violin is hard and I hated it. (Apparently this contradicts my second sentence.)

Piano is really fun; easy to play, but hard to master. Also, its not portable or cheap to have your own. I do think I like piano the best though because of its importance in classical music.

  • The trumpet used to be my favorite instrument, but in highschool I picked up the trombone and played it for 4 years. It turned me away from brass instruments for good. Now, my favorite instrument would have to be the drums. I've always been fascinated by how people can simultaneously keep different beats and rhythms with their feet and hands.
  • My favorite would be piano. Sadly I dont know how to play it. I like the sound of piano, it makes me want to think, think of my past and my future. In addition, whenever someone is playing the piano, his fingers looks like they are flying. I really enjoy watching people playing piano, and I wish I can do it some day in the future.
  • My favorite instrument is also the guitar.  I have been playing for over a year now, and I continue to learn more and more about the techniques and methods of playing it.  It allows for so much creativity, because you can truly incorporate passion into your guitar playing.  The sound that it makes is incredible and it allows you to play a variety of songs.  Like other people have been saying, it is versatile and melodious, which is why it is my favorite.
  • My favorite instrument is the clarinet. I used to play it in high school and I loved the crisp and clear sounds that it produces. It was also very fun to play the instrument.
  • My favorite information by far is the bass. I love the sound, I love the way bassists slap the strings and manipulate the instrument to produce all kinds of sounds. The first time I ever saw a bassist play was at the House of Blues on a field trip in 5th grade. I still remember the goofy stance and movements the the bassist made as he played. That energy and joy for the music inspired my love for the instrument and its sound.
  • I don't play an instrument either, sadly :(

Although I don't have an all-time favorite, here are just a few that are on my mind at the moment:

I like the violin; the sound is so intense.

I like the saxophone; the sound is so romantic and it makes me want to dance.

I like the piano; the sound is soothing- and I love Yiruma.
