some people dont know what their calling is, no matter how old they are
some people know what they are meant to do from the day they learn how to read.
i knew kina what my calling was when i was younger,
but now i know for sure.
i was born to help people, whoever may need it.
and i will keep on helping them, until i can no longer stand on my own.
so stand up people, and try and help with me.
because you never know when you will need help… Continue

I am sitting here cramming for my final tomorrow and I am pumping my body full of caffeine and sugar to keep myself awake to cram in those few extra definitions. As I sit here sucking down a coca cola I was just wondering how bad this could be for for my body later on in life. Like am I going to wake up to a commercial blaring that soda is the new cigarettes? Because I cannot quit drinking soda....I love it too much. I know that sugar and processed food is not good for the body but how… Continue

As I was just reading some of these posts from my classmates, I got to thinking how neat this website is. Pretty cool how people are posting real thoughts, feelings, insecurities, etc. allowing both friends and relative strangers alike to read and learn details of things that are often kept closest to the heart. I guess I just love how this is (becoming) a hub for conscious minds to bring substance to our conversations and, more importantly, to our lives. Thank you all who have been a part of… Continue

I think the discovery of YouTube was absolutely hilarious. Thank goodness i am not one of the YouTube stalkers who spends hours searching for funny videos, but i am glad they are there! Some of the videos ive seen are so funny ive started crying! i think anything that can bring a laugh, or smile to our society is good. I miss seeing people smiling all the time (because when i was little, everyonee smiled all the time). Although there are a lot of bad videos that are put up, i hope that the good… Continue

Prayers are something people can do without being religious. Although its assumed that you are praying to God, prayers at least if you dont want to, dont have to. The most important thing about prayers is that you are thinking well upon other people. The more support from every person, the better! Considering the 8.9 earthquake that just hit Japan, i think its important that Americans, and even the rest of the world, send its thoughts and prayers over to those in need. There is no harm in… Continue

Since it is 10th week I have to do a million things at once, and one of those things is housing.
I live in a really cute apartment with a nice lawn outside. I have a small kitchen and a small room but its my home away from home, and my home is now being threatened. All three of my roommates are moving out! This sounds bad-like I am some horrible roommate, but that is so not true! One of my roommates is moving into a sorority, one is graduating, and one is moving in with her… Continue

In France where the cultural exceptionalism is one of the highest values, the government supports artists rather vigorously. Once a French citizen is registered as an artist who pursues legit artistic activities regularly, she gets financial support from the government. It's a policy to help fostering art that they value so highly and it does help, but it also produces garbage arts and artists as byproducts; people without artistic enthusiasm or philosophy may claim to be artists while… Continue

why does our campus have to be so hill-y!!! I mean there are literally hundreds of stairs on campus, not to mention the trek all the way up to the dorms like hedrick and rieber. Who decided to build this school on top of like 4 hills is what i would like to know. Even though the hills suck to climb up, our campuses is for sure one of the prettiest i think, so i guess i can just suck it up and endure the momentary pain and fatigue that goes with climbing all the hills on campus.

i dont know if its just me, but when i see girls wearing huge stiletto heels to class i cant help but laugh. What is the point of wearing those things to class? I mean UCLAs campus is not exactly the flatest, and when i see them walking up stairs or the hill by Drake Stadium I am baffled. Maybe its just because im an athlete and high heels dont really go with spandex and sweathshirts, but i mean come on, 4 inchers are not necessary for class. Aren't they extremely uncomfortable is my… Continue

Everyday i dread the walk to class through bruin walk. I am sad to be so nervous and scared to walk up the scenic bruin walk, but the amount of flyers and CALPRIG announcments that i am bombarded with get old very quickly. What is a girl to do when blue, green, pink, and yellow papers all displaying different pictures and various word arts are shoved into my face as i try to bury my face in a book or delve into a deep (fake) conversation with my mom. This attack on students needs to stop,… Continue

I can not live my life without music, plain and simple. Music inspires my very soul, and is like a lifeline to me. I honestly dont think i could do anything without the presence of music in my life. Getting pumped up for games would be impossible, and feeling elated and happy would be difficult with the abscence of music. It just makes everything better, for instance, if there is music playing during workout, i automatically am in a better mood, therefore i perform better. I guess it… Continue

Through thick and thin, there is one thing in my life that has been constant and strong: family. My familyis the simgle most important thing in my entire life. A support system that is there when you make mistakes, break hearts, and act just plain stupid, their love is unconditional. I know that my family is far from perfect, and they are complete weirdos at heart, but I would not trade them for the world. Everything that I have accomplished is due to the fact that my family is so… Continue

It seems that the world today is so wrapped up in the business of everyday life, that it is hard to find some time to just sit and do nothing. Wasn't everything easier when we were little kids? Where the biggest concern of ours was what color to use when drawing stick figures and little doggies? Sometimes I just want to go back to those times where everything was so simple and nothing else besides coloring and hide-and-seek seemed to matter. Nowadays being in college, my childhood nearing… Continue

If you think about it, living in Dorms is an interesting concept. Being thrust into a small room and forced to live with another human being that you very well may not know is something that does not seem appealing nor rational. But yet, we do it. For some, sharing a room with a fellow Bruin may be a new experience, where one roomate has never had to share a room, or just have never had the desire to share a living space with somebody until marriage or something. The dynamics of this type… Continue

I am so blessed to be born within a family who loves me for who i am. Looking back on home videos, i know for a fact that i had a very long awkward stage and that i was incredibly annoying. My fourth and fifth grade years were especially bad, because i didnt quite get that a middle part didnt look good on me. But i know that through all my ugliness and annoying jokes, my family has always been there. I am the middle of three girls and I am so blessed because we are all so similar and different… Continue

I never blog usually...so I will just put what I am feeling right now.
When 10th week and finals weeks comes I get very stressed out. EXTREMELY stressed out. It is hard for people to see because I usually have a big smile pasted on my face just out of habit. But after 6 hours of water polo and school all day there is not enough time in the day to actually show stress by braking down into tears. I don't have time for that. So stress comes in different forms for me.

Yes, thats right, there is one big thing that the best school in the world needs. No, its not a bigger gym for basketball games, and no its not more dorms for an already overflowing school, and no, its not a flatter campus (because lets get real, thats not really possible haha). The only thing that UCLA could stand for gaining is a football stadium on campus. I know our campus is packed in and squished from all sides, but there is always hope. Maybe if we get another donation, we can buy the… Continue

I am the master of procrastination as you can all see because I am frantically finishing up my wdydwyd post the night before they are due. I can also tell that more than half our class is doing the same because I'm constantly getting emails saying "Someone replied to the discussion...". How many people are stressing over finals and papers due? I know I am, and even though I have known the due dates for weeks I always manage to leave it to the very last minute! Hopefully as I become a more… Continue

I am obsessed. It is an hour long TV show that brightens my day whenever i talk or think about it. There is something about being the underdog, being the losers of the school, that really hooks me. These kids are all at the bottom of the pyramid in school because they might not be the prettiest or best dressed, but they all have talent way beyond my own abilities. They enjoy each others company and learn to relish even the bad memories spent together. They spend hours talking about what its… Continue

I think the Daily Bruin is one of the best things that the school provides in order to keep student knowledge up about the school. I love reading daily about other sports teams and what they have overcome or what they are facing next. I lved reading about my teams future games and im glad to know that we are represented by the school and that people have the chance to read about us. I read about the 100 million dollar donation that the school received, the second biggest in history, and how… Continue
