Andy Rose Discussion 1C Why I do What I do...

Andy Rose10.08.09Discussion 1C Art/ArchI try to do as much with my life as possible because we may only get one chance at this great blessing. My name is Andy Rose and I am 19 years old, although I would have to say that I am quite different to most 19 year olds here at UCLA. I moved here from my home country of England to play soccer for UCLA last year and have loved every second of my experience in the USA. After meeting many many students I have found that most of them come from California and live fairly close to home, something that I cannot really relate to. Why did I come here? Simple…It had nothing to do with not liking home or my childhood because I cherished every minute of it and have the best family anyone could ask for, I simply wanted a change, a new beginning, a chance to see another part of the world. People often ask me how I ended up here and my answer has stayed the same since I arrived… ‘this is paradise, how could I resist moving to California?!’ This is an opportunity I have not taken lightly, I know the reason why I am here and have worked as hard as possible and have enjoy success with my teammates thus far, something I hope will continue in the future.I like to think that my life is made up of more than just playing soccer, which does seem to take up most of my time. I have met some amazing people since I have been here and love to hang out with friends because I have always believed that friendship is a core value that should never be underestimated. My life is made up of many values that I try my best to live by, these include being respectful of everyone, finding friends that I can trust and be trusted in, speaking with my family daily, being honest, and being as genuine as possible. If I had to choose one word that I would like to live by, then it would have to be genuine. I think that is the most important thing in this world and at the end of the day when all is said and done, you want people to think highly of you as a person, which is something I try to achieve. So that’s a rather brief introduction to who I am and what I do…there is much more to say but I believe I have touched on a couple of the important areas of my life.
