Ingrid RodriguezArts Encounters 10DIS 1D10/15/09Why Do You Do What You Do?I am Ingrid. And I’m a million little things at once.I’m 19 years old. I’m a sophomore at UCLA. I’m a Political Science major. I’m a native Southern Californian. And I’m only human.I’m fickle. I’m stubborn. I’m proud. I make mistakes. But there are two sides to me.I’m also ambitious. I’m also loyal. I’m also protective. I’m also determined. I’m also passionate. But most importantly, I am me.And I do many things.I attend music concerts. I go to Disneyland. I work. I shop. I have fun.But most importantly, I go to school.I study. I read. I write. I analyze. I explicate. I review. I get good grades. But most importantly, I think. Why do I do this? For so many different reasons.I go because it’s all I’ve ever known. I go because I’m scared to do anything else. I go because I don’t know what else to do. I go because I’m scared to grow up. I go because it gives my life purpose. I go because it makes me happy. I go because I’m good at it. I go because it gives me something to do. I go because I have to. I go because society tells me to. I go because I can’t fail.Failure is NOT an option. But most importantly, I go because I don’t want to let them down.I just want to make them happy. I just want to make them proud. But most importantly, I just want to let them know that it was all worth it.I love you, Mom and Dad.
