If one were to witness the sounds of a girl moaning from the pleasures of sexual intercourse, he would probably dismiss those sounds as noise. However, I believe those sounds have a unique role in certain musical creations and should be understood as music. Every sound I hear, whether it's the sound of people talking, feet shuffling, door knobs turning, or backpacks unzipping, creates a specific musical pitch that automatically becomes registered into my brain. This practice is called “perfect pitch”, but I believe the name is extremely misleading because pitches that exist in nature are far from perfect (in the Western Classical sense). In fact, most pitches that exist in nature consist of microtones, which are unaccounted for by the Western Classical tradition. I listen to all of these sounds in my own life because I believe that understanding how pitches function can be utilized to create the most beautiful music one's ever heard.
There are really only two things in my life worth living for. The first is the love I have for my family, friends, future significant other, and God. The other passion in my life is music, which is comprised of other artist's inspiring music, music I hear from my own life, and music I compose, which is essentially a bi-product of my favorite artists and the sounds I hear in my own life. The genres of music I enjoy the most are jazz and hip-hop and my favorite artists from those respective genres are Robert Glasper and J Dilla. The reason why I "live for music" is rather simple. I believe music can provide every existing human emotion, and has the capability of creating entirely new human emotions as well. In my opinion, life is about feeling all of these emotions and therefore, I do what I do because I want to devote my life to hearing as many emotions as I can until the day I die.
