I do what I do because I want to be a champion. I want to be the best golf player in the world and I am willing to do everything I can to achieve such dream. I have left my country, my family, my friends, my girlfriend, and came all across the world to UCLA because I have the dream of becoming the best at what I do.
I want to have kids looking at me as an example to follow, I want to have the whole crowd in a golf course cheering for me, I want to make my family, my friends, my country, the people that I have left, proud. These reasons motivate me to wake up every morning at 5:30, they make me work harder in workouts, they make me practice until dusk, they make me strive more than anyone else! Because I know this is the effort needed to be a champion. And I want to be one!
But I don't want only to be a champion. I want to be a special champion. I don't want to be a champion that wins all the time, but then is not loved by his peers. I want to be a champion that gives a smile to the public, one that does not excuse himself, that never gives up, that helps the next one, that is confident but humble. Being a champion is not only about winning. It's about giving everything I can and never giving up, and it's about helping others out and making them happy.
I believe that I have the tools to achieve my dream. Being at UCLA, surrounded by great resources and great people, gives me the opportunity to get to where I want. I just have to keep working hard and keep believing in myself. But if things don't turn out well and if I am not able to be a champion in golf, I want to be remembered as a champion in life.
