Because I want to Leave a Legacy

The monotony was as familiar to him as the rising of the sun from the east every morning. He had the same old job, behind the same old desk, and the same old feeling of dissatisfaction that had now become a routine. My alarm rings and I wake up with a start. Gosh, thank god that isn’t my life.

Coming from a middle class family, familial values and morals were ingrained in me right from the start. Hence, the importance of leaving a legacy, doing something so significant that brings honor and fame to my family name and my parents has always been a vital driving force for everything that I do in my life.

My father had a very humble upbringing, given that his father died when he was seven years old and my grandmother brought up five children all by herself. But, despite all the difficulties never gave up. He could have taken an easier way out by pursuing a path that gave him quick money. But as a man of righteousness and a true passion for what he loved, he strove only to pursue what truly interested him, even if that meant he had to struggle more. This was because he never wanted to be that unhappy man from my nightmare.

My father’s undying determination to follow what he truly believed in, and never budging from that path despite the hurdles and temptations of quick success have been the basis of every single one of my pursuits till date. I aim to create something so significant that generations to come would look at it and see it as a standing example of the ideologies of my father.

I’ve grown up in a country where academia is nothing but high scores. That’s probably why I decided to come more than 8,000 miles away from home so I can pursue what I truly love doing. So that I can leave a legacy that will be a tribute to all the values I have learnt from my father. Anything and everything that motivates me to do what I do is my dad. My Friend. My Mentor. My Hero.
