If you knew me and I told you I was once traditional and reserved, you’d tell me straight up I was a damn liar. For the most part, yeah, you can say that what I do is technically lying, but let me say, when I tell you why I do it, it’s definitely no act. Before I took that one small step on stage, I only saw the world in black and white. Not literally of course, but I really thought existence was dull and had nothing new to offer. Had I not experienced the art of theatre, I might have still thought the same today. I don’t think anybody will ever truly understand what it’s like unless they’ve done it themselves. The moment the curtains open, the world takes out its brush and paints life with the colors of imagination. Can you feel it? Can you see it? If you are my audience, you can.I won’t forget when I performed in “You Can’t Beat The House” during my senior year of high school. Our director allowed us to recreate our own character that didn’t exactly follow the "normal" characteristics of the role. I’m glad to say at the very least that all 300 pairs of eyes glaring at me by the end of the night were shocked to see Howie, an infamous and dangerous house burglar, as an excessively open homosexual. Despite the horrific shock, the ironic twist in character was rather, as complimented by several fans, “faaaaabulous!” I think it was here I truly understood what it meant to bring about something radically new in a world of old.My passion is theatre and acting, but not just any kind. I act in a way in order to stir the human imagination and stun a world of black and white with a rainbow in Technicolor.
