I get up everyday and go to sleep every morning in this reality we like to refer to as life. What we like to think we live everyday as make choices that are really ours when in fact they are more the decisions that have been crafted as the right decisions or wrong ones by society. We can choose to live by the rules or not, but result of this have different repercussions. We would like to think that what we see everyday and do everyday is real, but it is just a fabricated reality composed of what we think is right or wrong depending on how we have been socialized. The fact that I go to class and am working toward a degree is the byproduct of me living the reality of a socialized being. In a world where mores and folkways limit possibilities of doing anything, what we are doing is really not completely up to us. The fact that I am doing this paper is my attempt to not commit a folkway, because if I chose not to do it then the consequence is a failing grade. This inevitability can result in consequences that can be bigger. So why exactly do I do what I do? I live everyday by the rules of society because I have been socialized to do so otherwise I become a deviant who lives outside the bubble of our westernized society. This reality although guided by perception and interpretation really should not be taken as it appears because sometimes our reality can be different from what is really real itself. But if we want to survive and thrive in this reality we must learn to play the game appropriately and follow through with a firm grasp on what is reality. Although I may deviate sometimes I still for the most part stay in the track our socialized reality. I do this not necessarily because I want to or because it makes me happy, but simply because its what has to be done.
