Ever since I was a little girl most of my time was spent in the water or by the pool. I was a part of the club summer swim team since around four years old and even when I wasn’t in practice, my friends and I were running and jumping off the diving board soaking up the sun. I seemed to be a natural in the water and I learned to swim without floaties very early on. Of course having both my parents as aquatic Olympians also helped the fact that I learned how to swim early on. Even with my parents influence to learn how to swim, I was mostly interested in the water because I was always surrounded by older siblings and cousins who were much more confident than I was in the water. I followed their lead and tried to copy most of the same stuff that they did. I watched them move from swimming to water polo and become really talented. I picked up their passion and found myself spending even more time in the water. I loved being outside and the sun and everything about being in the water during the summer. Luckily, I was born in California and didn’t know too much about the winter, otherwise maybe my future would have turned out differently. My time as an aquatic athlete has created some of the best memories for me, including thoughts about how I must have been born the wrong animal. I love being near the ocean and it seems appropriate that I should have been a dolphin. Considering my personality, a dolphin seems much more logical. I love to have fun and just cruise and relax in the water. Although I love working hard and being a part of a team, being a fish in big waters seems too perfect for me. I wouldn’t have to worry about the sunscreen that I forget to put on, and I feel like I spend about all of my time in the water anyway. All in all, my life wouldn’t have been much different if I had been born a different animal, there isn’t much of a difference between me and a fish anyway!
