Breaking the Rules

I do what I because I am me, Kelley McCarroll-Gilbert.  I consider my actions to be the best possible decisions depending on the situation.  At the end of the day when I think about my activities, I want to feel better about myself knowing that I have made a difference.  I want to help make someone else’s day better and reached out to someone who was having a rough day.  I do what I do because of who I am.   I do what I would want someone else to do for me.

I do what I do because I do what I want.  Even though sometimes I do the wrong things, despite what my conscience tells me, I’m doing what I enjoy at that moment. I do what I do to have fun. I watch TV when I don’t want to do my homework.  I stay out late even when I know I should be going to bed.  I eat junk food because it tastes good.  Part of being a teenager, is living life to its fullest which mean making mistakes.  I live my life without the goal to have no regrets, to never miss out.   In my opinion, these mistakes are all part of figuring out the right path to go down.  In high school my parents got on my case a lot about making the right decisions.  At the time, I did everything I could to get my way and do whatever I wanted.  But now looking back I know that I wouldn’t’ be here at UCLA or be the person that I am without them.  I do what I do because I want to thank them for all of their help by making decisions that I know would make them happy.

As I begin to grow up, I try to focus on doing what Is right and what will help me succeed in life.  It becomes more important to make decisions that benefit not only me but the people around me.  As I grow up I do what I do because I am becoming a better person!
