Define Me

Devon LindvallArt & Art 10Winter16 October 2009Define MeI am Devon Lindvall, an eighteen-year-old female UCLA student. I am a product of my environment and surroundings, which brings out the different aspects and variety of my personality. I am a competitor, a dreamer, a believer, a fighter, a lover, a social butterfly, a daughter, a best friend, a teammate, a sister, and a Bruin. I am a UCLA softball player who has dedicated my entire life to the game. I am a driven, focused student-athlete who is proud to represent the four letters I wear across my chest. Believing in something bigger then myself is important to me and that is why I have chosen to be a part of the most competitive and prestigious softball program in the country. Bringing a positive and optimistic attitude into everything I do on and off the field helps not only me, but the entire team. I also believe smiling and laughter is the best medicine for life. God has blessed me with my loving family, devoted friends, and great athletic skills that make me realize how fortunate I am everyday.Softball is what I do and what I love to do. I have a passion for the game and could not imagine life without it. Being a player requires a hard work ethic, confidence, accountability, drive, perseverance, self-control, and poise. And even more importantly, being a teammate requires sacrifice, patience, faith, support, spirit, collaboration, friendship, trust, loyalty and love. The life lessons I have learned through softball have shaped me into the person I am today. It has taught me to fight for what I want and to work hard in all aspects of life. Softball is a game of failure, which has given me the mental and physical strength not to give up when life gets tough. Taking responsibility for yourself and your team builds character. Softball embodies all the qualities I want to poses. I want to be a competitor in this world who works hard for success and deserves it.Softball is so important to me because not only is it my passion, it is my outlet to express myself. I leave my heart and soul on the field everyday through the physical work I put into every ball I hit, field or dive for. I play softball to achieve ultimate success and competitive excellence in every aspect in life. I am a Bruin. I am a winner. I am a champion.
