Dorm Life

If you think about it, living in Dorms is an interesting concept.  Being thrust into a small room and forced to live with another human being that you very well may not know is something that does not seem appealing nor rational. But yet, we do it.  For some, sharing a room with a fellow Bruin may be a new experience, where one roomate has never had to share a room, or just have never had the desire to share a living space with somebody until marriage or something.  The dynamics of this type of living must be discovered and the push and pull of both roomates plays a major role in the success of the roomate-bond.  Setting boundaries and laying down ground rules is always a good start, followed by likes and dislikes, and preferences.  These are jsut some of the things that college students have to deal with.

As much as I love having my own room and privacy, I believe that having a roomate and learning to socially interact in a tight space for a perod of time is a useful skill that one needs in life.  Though roomates can possibly be annoying, or many roomate scuffles may occur, the lessons learned from living together last a lifetime.  You might also make a friend for life through this period of time together, the possibilities are endless.

  • SO TRUE!

What I found really hard in the dorms was eating in the same place I studies in the same place I slept.  I needed a new element it was driving me crazy! And it was driving my roommate crazy because at one point in time we just could not stand each other.  Its hard when you are sick or just don't feel like cleaning up because your roommate gets pissed when you just don't have the energy to do anything about it.

But in the end we turned out to be great friends because you both experienced something totally unique from anyone else.  No one can say that they lived with me and saw all my good and bad freshman year.  So there is a lot of bad that comes with it just remember that there is a lot of good that comes out of it!
