Family

I do what I do because of the values I hold. How I was raised and what I believe in makes me the person I am today. I do what I do because it is who I am.Everyone has their own past and the way I was raised and influenced has contributed tremendously to the person I am. One of my core values that I hold dearly in my heart is family and that includes all the loved ones in my life. When my parents first arrived in the California, they hardly had anything but with the help of relatives and government funded aid, they were able to slowly build a stable foundation. One of the reasons why I am active in community service is because I saw how a little help can go a long way. I grew up watching my parents struggle to raise a family of 6 financially. My father held a minimum wage job as a fast food cook and my mother stayed home to take care of the kids and occasionally went out trash digging for recyclables just for that extra cash. I became a hard worker just like them. I am not one of those people that do exceptionally well in class or at an activity but one that will do the best I can. Just like everyone, I have goals that I want to reach and the only way I can achieve it is to work hard.My friends are also as important as my family. They chase away some of the doubts and fears that lingers in my mind at times. The support that we give to each other has helped me achieved some of the most difficult tasks that I’ve done such as completing the LA Marathon and the Southwestern internship. I value my friends just like my family. They have influenced me so much and guided me to where I am today.I am who I am and in reality, no one knows what my life is like unless they live it.
