I do what I do because I do not want to have any regrets. Now that I am 20 years old, I think it is fair to say that I do have some life experience, and overall I have been happy with my decisions and way of living. In retrospect, I have found a common theme in the memories that put make my heart sink; and that is the fact that they are all filled with regret. I have felt regret in situations where I do not take a risk or take a chance; situations where I am scared of the end result. Looking back though, I have simultaneously found that my best memories consist of those times where I do take that leap of faith, and that is why I now live my life with no regrets. I do not mean to live life on a whim, because I do think that it takes planning and care in order to achieve your set goals in life. I more mean to live each day with the faith in yourself that life will go on. If you choose to stay up late doing something totally counterproductive to studying, life will still go on. If you decide to take a chance on a romance with someone who is not 100% your usual “type”, try it out and learn from it. Go skydiving so you can experience the earth at its highest point, and scuba dive to explore the mystery of the depths in our ocean. Opportunity is presented in front of us every day, and in my experience, when I do not seize these opportunities is also when I regret those decisions. Here at UCLA especially, I think it is so important to get everything out of our experience as a student. These are the best four years of our lives, or they are supposed to be, in which case you do not want to regret missing out on anything. I do what I do for these reasons; I live my life because I do not want to have any regrets.
