I do what I do for my dreams

I do what I do because I cannot do what I want to do in the future if I don’t do what I do now.

Clubbing? Fun! Traveling? Fun! Just chilling? Always fun! But… studying which I do now? Not that fun…

So why do I lock myself in a library and my room to read boring text books all the time? I don’t believe that studying makes me a better person or guarantees a happy life. But I believe that it will make me prepared for real life out there and that it is maybe the easiest way for me to get to a point where I want to be in the future.

I served in the Korean army for two years and took time off from school to have full time jobs. When I experienced all those things, I always thought I wanted to go back to school. Not that I like studying, but because I realized that in real life, no other way is easier than studying to accomplish goals in my life. I came to the U.S. to study English and broaden my perspective. That was a really important decision in my life. Because of that, I often ask myself a question “what are you doing?” If the answer to the question is not matched with the reason why I’m here, I convince myself to reflect and think about the goals that I want to achieve.

Things can change, and what I want to do and what I want to have in the future might be different from my hope. But I’m not afraid of that. Whatever I will do in the future, I want to be ready to enjoy my job. I want to enjoy my life with my best friends and family. I don’t have to have a luxury life, but I want to have a life that I’m satisfied with. The studying part is just a first step of the big picture, but without it, there will be no second step. That is why I do what I do now.
