Wake up in the morning, drive over an hour to get to school, go to lectures, and drive over an hour to get back home. Spend many sleepless nights studying for midterms and finals, and all for what? The answer is quite simple: to make something of myself. I have worked hard my entire life and put much time and effort into my studies and have luckily succeeded. I was accepted to my dream university, UCLA. This proved to me that an individual’s hard work and determination will eventually pay off, it may not be instantaneous, but the time will come. As I begin the next step of my life, as a UCLA student, I realize that the next four years here will not only provide me with the knowledge, but also shape me as an individual. School is not purely about education; it is also a means of exploration, a mechanism to self-discovery. Every moment of every day is shaping the person I am and will become. The individuals I meet, the knowledge I acquire, the experiences I live through all impact who I will become. By the end of my four years at UCLA, I don’t expect to have planned out the rest of my life nor do I expect to have become an amazing, influential person. However, I do know I will grow as an individual. I will better myself and succeed in my future endeavors. Therefore, I attend UCLA in order to making something of myself.
