I Play...

My name is Amit Inbar. I play tennis and I do that because sports have a major influence on my life. I come from an athletic family so I knew from the start that my future was going to be somewhat related to sports. My mom was a basketball player and my father was a swimmer. I played basketball and tennis until I was 14, but since then I have focused only on tennis. I played professional tennis and traveled all around the world. I ended up going to college at UCLA and became part of the varsity tennis team. Tennis gave me new opportunities and opened many doors for me. I would say tennis is my entire life. I play tennis because it gives me a sense of excitement, courage, strength, and confidence. Athleticism is essential to an individual's health and makes you feel empowered. I have the ability to develop a career in tennis and achieve knowledge, respect, and appreciation from my fellow players on the tour or within my team. I began playing tennis when I was 8 years old and my mom signed me up for lessons. I began playing basketball as well because she wanted me to explore my athletic potential. My parents gave me the first push, but after that it was all my choice if I wanted to continue with that specific sport or not. It was obvious to me that I should focus all of my attention on tennis. I believe it is important to feel confident when you play because it enables you to become better and when I am confident with my shots I know I can beat anybody. It gives me will power and the belief that I have no limits in what I can accomplish. If for any reason I would have to stop playing tennis, it would be a disaster. Tennis gave me opportunities, life, and joy. I would need to find a different hobby to focus my energy and concentration on. It would be extremely difficult because tennis has been the focus of my life from when I was a child. Tennis means the world to me and all of my aspirations revolve around it.
