If I didn't, I wouldn't be Me.

I am an 18 year old male, of Russian Jewish heritage. I love my family and my friends more than anything else, and I believe that loyalty, love, honesty, and generousness are the most important human traits. I define myself as a person who values human connections above all other aspects of life (including money, achievement, status, and power). I am a strong believer in getting to know someone before judging them, because people often judge me before they know me. I love making people happy, I love making them laugh, and I am the type of person that believes that love can fix anything, even cure sickness.I study at UCLA because I want to acquire the tools which are necessary to live a happy life. I do it because the fact that I am studying at a world-class university brings me fulfillment and pride.I play classical piano because I am very passionate about the music and I enjoy bringing it to other people, because it is an outlet for emotions, and because being able to produce beautiful sounds pleases me.In my life, chess is a word that is wedged somewhere between “eat” and “sleep.” It teaches me concentration, stamina, patience, foresight, and decision-making under pressure. It gives me a chance to tune everything out and immerse myself within the vast world within the 64 squares. I play chess because it has created an indestructible and irrevocable bond between me and my brother, who is the chess world champion.I laugh all the time because it is the simplest form of pleasure I can think of. I laugh at everything and anything, I laugh at other people’s jokes and I laugh at my own. I think that laughter can create friendships and it can fix them. I believe that it can make people fall in love, and it can heal broken bonds. I laugh because it makes me happy.I do it because if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be Me.
