introduction

I was born in Seoul, Korea. When I was young, I grew up in a big family. I lived with my great grand mother, grand parents, parents, and my two younger siblings. Living in one household altogether is a Korean tradition and I was blessed to learn the greater value of the family under my grand parents. I always learned to respect elders and obey my parents. More than anything, my great grand mother taught me how to love other people with sincere heart.
Right now, I am a college student, and I study psychology. Most importantly, I am a Christian. Being a Christian gives me a lot of advantage to view my life and things around me in much more bigger picture. I am still figuring out how things work in the world, but it is not as overwhelming as it would have been to me, because I believe in God and his sovereignty over all things. Another thing that gives me a privilege is the fact that I immigrated to U.S. when I was 15, and that itself, opened my eyes and allowed me to experience the different people and culture. As much as it was difficult to adjust to the new environment, the difficulty that I went through gave me precious lessens to have better guidance as I live my life.
One of the most important things that I think I have to learn completely is to know myself. Studying psychology helped me to figure out my nature(temperament) and how I can cope with it. I have a tendency to get depressed easily and see things negatively. However, on top of God’s grace in my life, studying psychology helped me to learn my weakness in more organized context and work on it to change the way I think and view things in more optimistic and thankful.
Based on what I learned about the world, my ultimate goal is to help others with what I learned, who are struggling with their lives and who lost their hopes.
