I am Jared Holt Pickrell. I was raised in Rocklin, California. Inhigh school, I was the president of the Christian Club at my school,the captain of the tennis, worked at In-N-Out Burger, taking four APClasses, and on church leadership at my high school youth group. Nowthat I am here at UCLA, I am an active member of the fraternity SAE,Sigma Alpha Epsilon, highly involved with an on campus Christianfellowship called Campus Crusade for Christ also known here as CRU,I am a business economics, a second year, and I attend the church,Reality LA, in West Hollywood. I would describe my personality typeas a competitor, achiever, and activator. But most importantly, I amfirst and foremost a Christian. I live my life for one person, and oneperson only, his name being Jesus Christ. Through the research I didin high school I came to the conclusion that Jesus Christ was a manwho lived approximately two-thousand years ago, while being fully manI believe he was also fully God. I live my life for him. Whether itbe striving to bring him glory in high school by striving for excellencein everything I said or did. Now in college it’s the same thing, ineverything I say and do I try to bring it all back to the glory ofGod. I study for a test, to be a good steward of the gifts he’s givenme, I play sports and give thanks to him for the body he gave me, Igo to a fraternity party not to drink or smoke but to talk to othersabout the unfathomable love he has for them and me, and I go to churchand CRU to talk to others about his incredible glory. Now some mightthink this a foolish reason to do what I do, but for me it’s thereason I live and breathe. Because I know that for me “to live isChrist and to die is gain,” as the Apostle Paul puts it.in the bookof Philippians in the Bible. In other words I do this because I want tobe like Christ was to people on this earth, and I know I have the hopeof heaven when I die.
