I would not hesitate to say that I am a blessed man. My name is Ryan Shott and I am a freshman football player at UCLA. I am extremely close with my family and I love them more than they could imagine. I am an Environmental Science major and I am very interested in the wellness of our planet and nature itself. I consider myself to be a very religious man. I am currently part of a bible study here on campus. I find God as the perfect solution to all problems I face. Such as right now, I am battling a blood condition similar to Hemophilia. If I this does not get better in the next two weeks, the doctors said I will never be able to play football again. However I have faith that God has a plan for everyone, and I trust whatever his decision is with me.I would say that other than serving God, football is my biggest passion. I have only played for four years but it has played an enormous role in my life. Even though I never played as a kid, I grew up watching UCLA football with my dad, grandpa, and uncle. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to play football for the Bruins. It is definitely a dream come true to be in my position today.I play football because it has helped me stay on the right path and it has kept me out of trouble. A bunch of my closest friends from my early childhood until now started doing drugs and started heading in the wrong direction after they quit sports in high school. Football is also an outlet for all of my negative emotions. I feel that it is a perfect way for me to expel any bad feelings or things that have been bothering me. In a way, football is like an escape from reality. I can get away from everything and truly do what I love. This game has taught me many life lessons such as discipline, teamwork, and humility. Football has helped me achieve my childhood dreams of being a bruin.
