"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will." – Vince LombardiI am driven to succeed; it is in my blood and in my nature. I am not a person who can accept failure as an option, nor as a consequence of my actions. This inherent drive to be the best in all of my endeavors pushes me in many of my activities like nothing else can. Sports are a major passion of my life, a fact that I believe stems directly from my competitive nature. My drive to succeed creates in me a desire to watch others who have similar convictions, giving me great joy from viewing professional athletes, who truly are the best, compete at the highest level and act as role models for the rest of the world. I also greatly enjoy playing sports, as they give me an avenue through which to funnel my competitive drive. This ideal of mine also governs my actions in the classroom and in the social arena. I do not like to be left behind or pushed off to the side as second place, and thus I am driven to compete at the highest level. I push myself in my studies not for grades or glory, but simply for the reason that I crave knowledge. I want to know all that I can about the world and glean as much as I can from my schooling, so that I may be the most educated in the room. I also have a specific way of viewing success with friends. I view failure as losing a friend; I work very hard to make lasting bonds with people and keep them as my companions, through smooth and rough waters. When I look more deeply into myself, I find that most of my actions stem at least in part from my desire to succeed. This drive is an inherent part of who I am, and makes it clear to me that I do what I do in order to be the best.
