Starting my life as a graphic designer

It would be a lie if I said I fully enjoyed pulling an all-nighter at my high school. But it turned out to be not as bad as I thought. As a yearbook editor at my high school, I was finishing up the yearbook with my teacher on a Friday after school. The due date for all pages was already the next week and I still needed to make many corrections to the pages. A few staff members also stayed to help me but they all left around 8 in the evening. But I stayed longer to edit pages, such as fixing grammars in the articles, finding students’ names for captions, and modifying color, brightness, size, and proportion of photos. I worked all night with my teacher, had breakfast outside, and then came back to school to work again until noon. It was almost 22 hours of working straight at school!Even though I was quite tired while I worked at school over night, I was very proud of myself that I managed to finish the yearbook. I could pull this off because I enjoyed editing pictures and modifying artistic layouts for each page. Then I thought, ‘I can do this for my career later on! I already managed working all night and finished my work!’ I decided to be a graphic designer from that point and started planning my future. Even though I had an idea that I wanted to be an artist before, I was not sure what kind of art that I liked to do for my career. Luckily, working in the yearbook clarified my vision for my dream and encouraged me to study graphic design.I am currently learning Design/ Media Arts at UCLA because I find pleasure in designing my art. I will work hard on my design classes to develop my portfolios and be a great graphic designer!
