Ever since the first day I laced up my cleats and took the pitch I have known that I would always have passion for the game. The game helps me escape from everything going on in my personal life and brings me to a happy place I never want to leave. The smell of the pitch and feeling of the grass is indescribable to me. Thousands of hours of practice and putting myself through hell all seems worth it for that 30 minutes of flawless play. The feeling of playing well and enjoying the competitive game with my teammates is the most amazing sensation in the world. It helps me keep a level head and forget about worries or troubles that are going through my head. I do what I do because I love the game with all of my heart and would not know what to do without it. If soccer were taken away from me it would be like a whole piece of me is missing. I base my whole lifestyle off of this game. Going to sleep early on the weekends so that I will have enough energy to perform at practice to impress the coaches. Having a set diet and eating routine throughout each day is strictly due to the fact that I need certain foods in my system to help me perform. Soccer shapes the way that I live my life and I love everything about it. Torturing myself on 1-hour long runs up hills and around a track over and over again to better my performance on the field. The reason I am attending UCLA is because of soccer and the outstanding athletic program here. Soccer has taken me on a rollercoaster ride around the world and to one of the most prestigious colleges in the country. I do not regret dedicating my life to the sport because it makes me who I am. It has taught me values that I have used in many different aspects of my life. The dedication and responsibility it has expected from me on the field have transferred into my life off of the field as well making me a better person. I love the sport and can’t imagine life without it.
