The World is a Collection of MathematicsI am a walking sponge, soaking up the calculus around me: patterns, shapes, and measurements. I see the mathematics in nature and architecture everywhere I go: fractals, finite models, graphical displays, and natural functions. I point it out to others and describe the extraordinary coincidences in nature. I am a natural teacher. I want to wring myself out and pour all that I’ve soaked up onto others.I learn the intricate details from professors, but hardly take it too seriously. The basics and numerical displays are what entice me, not the theory. I diligently progress in my studies, while educating younger students in the fundamentals of calculus. I share its importance in every aspect of the world – both naturally occurring phenomena, and man-made structures. I stress that calculus is the basis of everything. I informally teach others every chance that I get.I want math to be cool. I’m sick of most of the world thinking that math-lovers are nerdy. I want to show the world the miraculous appearance of mathematics in EVERYTHING that they see and do every day. When someone looks at a flower, I want them to see that the design is not randomly structured; there is a specific mathematical formation that occurred, and can be measured. Math is amazing and mind-boggling. I want to show people who see math as a bore that it is really quite fascinating. I want to change the world’s view on the world. I do what I do because every piece of mathematics captivates me, and I want to teach math for the sole reason of making my students realize how remarkable math can be.
