Do what you want but don’t forget why—essentially my life’s motto. To me, this motto screams freedom, but also responsibility. I am a person that believes in the pursuit and manifestation of freedom. I feel that the intrinsic freedom that every person has an equal amount of responsibility. My parents raised me extremely conscious of these intertwined ideas. Freedom and responsibility: this is the essence of what I believe in. I consider myself a very spiritual person, not particularly religious though. Overall, I am one that is random and randomly balanced—or at least attempt to be as balanced as possible. More formally, I am an Environmental Science major minoring in Environmental Engineering. I play various styles of guitar such as bossanova, flamenco, and other various Latin American musical styles. However, I also make electronic music, which I find a very awesome change of pace. In addition to music, I create fine art as alternate form of expression. I am how I have wanted to become and have never had to compromise myself—my actions, attitudes, and values. Now that I have described myself, I want to tell you why. I think self expression is too important to not fulfill it to its maximum. Expression also allows me to for a brief moment the monotony and burden of stress. I chose my major and minor with one particular reason in mind: to give something to my community. I feel that having been given such an opportunity and freedom such as UCLA, requires a reciprocal output of responsibility from my behalf. I have a lot to say and want to say it in all modes possible. I essentially think that I am responsible for giving people (those with whom I interact and those with whom I do not interact) my best for a greater good. Thus, my why I think is simple: I do what I do because I feel like there might not be anyone else to do it.
