Why do you do what you do? My initial response was “I don’t know,” but it was not because I do not have direction or meaning or purpose to life; it was more along the lines of simply not being able to have an exact answer at that point in time and space out of the infinite number of reasons that can exist. I tried to come up with a specific response, but it did not work out. I then began recollecting memories of my past detailing an account of who I was and what I have done. Then, it hit me. The reason why I do what I do is to dance on water.
The things I have gone through in life have led me to believing in not only walking, but dancing on water. In walking on water, I am making a reference to Jesus and Peter who walked on water according to the gospel of Matthew in the Bible. A person walking on water, let alone dancing is obviously impossible, but that is what I am all about. I am not saying that I physically walk on water or that I perform supernatural acts, but I do tackle things that seem impossible to me personally, as an individual. For example, I am a dancer in performing arts and I started not too long ago, but if one would have known me a few years prior to my commitment to Folklorico, they would have never guessed that a boy so shy and quiet would be dancing the night away on a stage in front of a thousand people on one of the biggest stage of them all like Royce hall and to be honest I did not and still do not know how I get the courage to get on stage and do what I do. Dance it is the most prominent example of why I do what I do in my life. That is how I live life, fearless and uncertain of what the future my hold confronting life head on with courage to do the things that seem impossible to me. For me, life is about turning “I can’t” into “I can” having the right motivation and endurance with a leap of faith into the water.
