To Give Peace a Chance
There are many things I am not sure of. Where we go after we die or which religion to pursue are a few of many questions that definitely fall into this category. But there is one thing I am sure about—I believe in people.
Every time I check the CNN homepage, there is always news of another murder, another kidnapping, and yet another display of social inequality. The actions of some members of the community have influenced us all to believe that humanity as a whole is inherently corrupt. I don’t buy it. I strongly believe that every human is well intentioned and is capable of loving purely--and those who aren’t just need to feel loved. So, I also believe that love has the power to fix anything.
Why do I do what I do? By giving as much love as I possibly can, I am hoping I can somehow reach those who are desperately in need of it. If we all pay it forward, it’s only a matter of time before every person on this earth will feel intimately connected. I try to find the light in every situation, however dim, because I believe it is there. By showing others this light, I believe the brightness present in all of our lives will be truly realized.
My ideology manifests itself in volunteer work. As a leader, I am on a constant pursuit to share my ideas of unconditional love and altruism with others. I believe the reason helping others produces feelings of elation is because we have been put on this earth to help one another. And once those in need are helped, they can help others and the cycle continues.
Only once we learn to love each other unconditionally will our world truly be in harmony. I do what I do because I believe my actions, how ever small, have the potential to inspire people. And because I believe people wish to be inspired in this way, I don’t doubt that we can all give peace a chance.
