To live my life to the fullest

How do you feel the moment you open up your eyes in the morning? Do you wish that the alarm did not wake you up so you could snooze for ten more minutes to finish your sweet dreams? Do you not want to get up so you don’t need to face the picky supervisor at work? Do you wish the weekend could last forever and Monday morning never came? When I open my eyes in the morning, I am excited that a new day is about to start. I am grateful that I am fully charged and have the energy for the up coming challenges. I know what I do everyday will make my life fulfilling. I  do what I do to live my life to the fullest.

Comparing my pictures from high school to the pictures I took recently, I see the youngness and immature slowly disappear on my face. I still remember how much I wished to grow older and to become a college student. But now, being a senior, I wish the time could stop for me and freeze in the moment. One of my biggest current fears is getting older and having to settle down. I am not at the age where I don’t want to grow any older. I still want to move on and experience more adventures of life – getting married, having babies, constructing a heartwarming family with my loved one. But I feel I haven’t experienced the current life enough – the life in which I am so energetic and fearless. Being young is like having a permission that allows me to make mistakes and make them up later. I can afford losing because I am still at the phase where I am trying out different things. After experiencing a failure, I can always get up without feeling too much pain and keep trying out novel things again. But getting older means having less time of my life and therefore means I can’t afford losing anything any longer. Every decision counts. I am afraid to get wrinkles, to be bothered by diseases, to be burdened with a whole lot of responsibilities.

Am I able to stop the time? Definitely no. The only solution to dissolve my fear is to live my life to the fullest. It’s hard to always be positive, active, and optimistic. Depression and negative thoughts do kick in sometimes. But I believe that whatever I do today will contribute to who I am going to be tomorrow. I work hard on my schoolwork. I do volunteer to help animal adoption. I participate in research about children. I join my loving family during holidays and make sure they know I love them. I hang out with friends and exchange our thoughts and beliefs. I eat healthy food just so I won’t regret when I become older. I do what I do to experience, to learn, to love, and to live my life to the fullest.
