I think I’m the luckiest person in the world to have the parents that I do. They’ve never asked me to do chores around the house or hold a tight leash around me. If I wanted to go out with my friends, I could. No curfews. They’ve never forced me to do something that I didn’t want to do. Instead, they only supported me in everything I chose to do, such as playing the violin, swimming, and studying abroad. They’ve never threatened me to get good grades in college. Instead, they only encouraged me to try my best in school and if I couldn’t get good grades, it was okay. They’ve never told me to work to pay for my college tuition and they’ve also never given me an allowance, not daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly. If I ever wanted to buy something, they bought it for me. They’ve never asked me for anything in return for their unconditional love and undying support. Not money. Not a big house. Nothing. Well, maybe they did ask for a fancy Rolls Royce. If that was true, I would get it for them, but even if they didn’t, I would still get it for them. To have parents like them is like finding a needle in a haystack. I’m very fortunate to have two very loving parents, so I don’t try to take advantage of their kindness and the freedom that they’ve given me. Instead, I try to do my best in college by studying diligently to get good grades so that I can make them proud. I want to show them that they’ve raised their daughter well and that all the hard work that they’ve endured for me has not been futile. I know I’ve taken so much from them, so as I’m still in college with no career yet, I feel that all I can do now is excel in school so that I can get into a prestigious pharmacy school, and become a pharmacist to care for others in the same way that my parents have cared for me.
