Why do you do what you do?
There are many reasons behind what I do in my everyday life, but one reason stick out the most, which I never thought about consciously, but while writing this blog, the first thing protruded from my mind was my family and how much they have cared for me and supported me, which I took for granted all my life even when I came to college. Just now I have become conscious of this gift that many wish to have and actually get it. I have been an alien to this issue when I came here, but I increasingly found more about family problems as my years in high school progressed. I heard many of my friends’ parents got divorced, which completely destroyed their family. However, I saw a very different attitude in my family; they have sacrificed many things so I can enjoy what I have now and finally come to college. My dad, who is stress most of the time about household and other related responsibilities, always hides what’s going on with him talks about my problems to make sure that I don’t get distracted in my education and can do what I want with my life. He is more concerned about me than about himself, which is thought to be expected by a parent and taken as granted by us “children.” However, comparing the very different lifestyles I have come to respect my family, and especially my parents, more and more. I want to honor what my family has done by doing what they have allowed me to do—go to college without any “extra” worries and be successful at it. I will not say that all my action are made around this reason, but I can surely say that my family plays a major part in my life as to what I do my daily life. Their selflessness always has and will inspire me to try harder, and do something for them in my future as they have been doing it for me all along.
