Passion. When asked the question “why do you do what you do,” the first word that comes to mind is ‘passion’. I believe that it is extremely important to involve yourself in activities and practices that you are passionate about. After all, who likes to do things that they do not enjoy or are not interested in? In my life, I am passionate about a lot of things. My family and friends are the most important thing in my life, and I am passionate about maintaining positive and healthy relationships with these people because they are the ones who keep me going. I am passionate about being a respectable, good human being, one who is determined, hard working, and has goals in life. I am also passionate about sports, especially soccer. However, my passion goes way beyond the love for playing the game. With my dad being a soccer coach and my brother being a soccer player, soccer has and always will be a huge part of my life. Growing up, soccer was the topic of a majority of the conversations at our dinner table. Not only has this sport brought my family together for the fact that we all have a common love for the game, but it has brought us together in so many other ways. Because of my dad’s job, our family was forced to move around quite a bit. As I was faced with new challenges in these new, unfamiliar places, it was my family who I turned to. Although it seemed rough at the time, I consider myself blessed to have experienced all that I have, because not only has it shaped the person I am today, but it has brought me closer to my family. Soccer has taught me how to be strong and supportive and realize that not everything will always go my way. It has taught me how to handle anything that comes my way with grace and dignity. But most of all, it has taught me that my family will always be there for me and to never ever forget that. Soccer may just be a sport for most people, but not for me. It helps define me: who I am, what I’ve learned, and what I believe in. And most importantly, it has taught me the true meaning of passion.
