Why do you do what you do? This question is not as simple as the text may imply. I have been trying to answer this question throughout the duration of my life. I still have yet to find the perfect answer. However, I feel that I do what I do due to various factors that have influenced my growth as a person.I feel that the people I was surrounded with during my childhood and the goals that they pursued influenced my current character greatly. My parents were both in the medical profession and I was quick to pick up on their stern work ethic and discipline. My two sisters, who are both older than I, were anticipating their college years while I was merely approaching elementary school. I noticed their ambitions and desire to attend a credible university. I feel as though through noticing all of this I inherited a very goal-oriented mentality. Coupled with these facts, my father instilled in me a very honest and loyal behavior. I was able to witness the kindness and sincerity with which he handled people from all walks of life and treating their illnesses as a physician. He was extremely honest with everyone in the family and I undoubtedly acquired that trait. All of these facts and influences have combined to place me where I am today.I am currently an Economics major at the University of California of Los Angeles. I play on the men’s soccer team and I am honored to be part of a very special group of talented players. The road that I took to be where I am was not so easy. I walked-on to the soccer team during the spring quarter of my sophomore year. I played soccer my entire life, but when I chose a university to attend the focus was primarily on academics. I had the talent, but no avenue to make use of them. I instinctively took matters into my own hands and prepared for the spring quarter. When my time came, I seized the moment and utilized every element that made me who I am.
