Why Do You Do What You Do?Jesse ForristalI am Jesse Caleb Forristal and my passion is and always has been boxing. I have been boxing since I was about 10. My father was a huge boxing fan and fairly decent amateur boxer. The boxing gym was like a home away from home for the most part. My father wasn’t pressuring me to box, but he definitely was encouraging me. And I grew to love it. Then when high school came around, I slowed on the boxing to pursue other endeavors. But upon the passing of my father I found solace in the gym. I rededicated myself to the sweet science that is boxing. I hit the gym hard and often, just like I did when my dad was alive. Not only was boxing the passion that I shared with my father but he instilled a work ethic in me that stays with me to this day. Whenever I am in the gym, I feel closer to him. Additionally, boxing is a sport in which I can be competitive. And since it is not a team sport, the pressure is solely on my shoulders. That responsibility motivates me to win. Boxing also helps me figure out life problems on my own. So I continue to box because it helps me in other aspects of my life. Throughout my career in boxing I have accomplished so many things. So not only does boxing give me tools in life, it offers an example of what I can achieve if I am truly motivated. I have a passion for boxing to this day because my father instilled this passion in me. And I hold onto this same passion because my life has been modeled around it. Without boxing I do not know where I would be. The effort that I put into boxing, I receive ten fold in results. So I dedicate myself to the sport because it has done so much for me.
