From time to time, I sit alone, wondering about what I am doing. I slowly go through the laundry list of tasks that I must accomplish. What do I have for school? How about for the organizations I’m involved in? Do I need to clean my room? What am I going to do when I hang out with my friends? These questions flow through my mind, one by one. First, I try to prioritize them. There are many tasks or assignments given in life, which must be done. Of course, I can’t simply live my life with necessary or required tasks to constantly do. No. I refuse. So why do I do everything else? Everything unnecessary. Why hang out with friends and make it a priority? Or why give countless hours to volunteer for an organization?I do a lot of those unnecessary things because it makes me happy. So that’s it right? It just makes me happy? There’s more to it. I find, a sense of fulfillment, a sense of accomplishment, a sense that I am making my impression on the world; showing that I am living my life to the fullest I can. I do it all for the experience, the joys, the sorrows, but most importantly, for the sake of being a living, breathing entity. A living, breathing entity that is able to walk on this earth and do what they want. I do it to help others. To share with those who may not have what I have, but also to learn from what they have to offer. My name is John Pantaleon and I am a 2nd year UCLA nursing student. I live my life to the fullest, taking in both the necessary and unnecessary. I live my life, to not waste it, but to enjoy and share it with the world.
