Evan TeufelArts & Architecture 10I am an 18-year-old American who is a dedicated, hard-working, and persistent athlete who will never give up on his dreams. I am an adventurous, risk-taking journeyman from Santa Barbara, CA who spends most his time in the ocean. I am a fourth-generation Californian and I make my family my first priority above all. I am a UCLA Student-Athlete who wants to win a National Championship in Men’s Tennis.I play tennis everyday and I surf as much as possible. Whether it is ping-pong or basketball, I love to play sports as much as I can. On the weekends, I play tennis tournaments all around the United States. In my downtime, I read and write poems mostly about nature and it’s offerings. I enjoy learning new things, which is why I am attending UCLA.I play tennis because I thrive on the rush and intensity of a close match; no other feeling comes close to winning a big tennis match. Tennis has always put my mind in gear and made me focus solely on the match I am playing. I play tennis because it continually motivates me to improve and to compete every opportunity I get. Not only is tennis a passion of mine, it is also an emotional escape when I am stressed or worried about schoolwork or other issues. Most importantly, whenever I make clean contact with that fuzzy, little tennis ball, no other feeling comes to that clean struck ball, which is why I am forever hooked on the sport. Tennis tournaments keep me focused on my game and keep me out of trouble and bad crowds on the weekends, then winning is just an extra bonus. Tennis has always been a huge part of my life and a very big commitment as well, though it has given me a lot in return. Surfing keeps me in touch with nature and is a nice way to break away from the competition of tennis. I play sports simply because I drive off of the competition against others and I have the constant will to win. I am here at UCLA to broaden my perspective and to engage in what my classes have to offer. Also I am here to make a difference within the University and to reach out to the community.
