Have you ever sat in bed, waiting to fall asleep, thinking random thoughts? I have, every night. If there is something to think about in the world, I have probably thought about it. You might ask why I think random thoughts. I would ask you back, who else would there be to think of them? Great ideas don’t just think themselves up, they have to have somebody do that for them and why shouldn’t that be me?Ever since first grade, I’ve always been curious about the world around me and learning. Learning about the solar system in third grade, galaxies in sixth grade, and all the way up to quantum physics, relativity, black holes, and time dilation in college have all given me a strange perspective on life. As I lay in bed, I think to myself how “insignificant” we really are in the Universe and I ask myself how everything occurred. Then I realized not too long ago that I might actually be able to figure some of those answers out. That is why I study. That is why I do what I do.I am a curious person, I ask questions, and I would love to have the answers to the unknowable questions. But, the only way that is going to happen is if I put in the effort. That is why I study for hours on end topics which other people might consider trivial or “nerdy”. For me, if you aren’t asking questions or trying to find answers, then you are wasting your time. There are so many things in this world that have yet to be discovered and are unknown that maybe I can be the one who finds out some new truth about our existence.I might not be the next Einstein or Newton, but I don’t have to be. Every contribution to science counts. No matter what I learn in life, at least I am learning and gaining knowledge. In the end, life just boils down to a series of questions. I intend to answer them all.
