Why I do what I doThe ephemeral feeling of joy is moment I would love to embrace each day. Most days, my life is rather simple, with moments of laughter and smiles sprinkled throughout the day.For me, these feelings of happiness and satisfaction are extremely precious to me, because they represent the reason I live my life the way I do. This is why I smile as often as I can; all that I am after is a life full of laughter. As a UCLA undergraduate, I try to learn all that I can so I can prepare for my future. Although the road to get there is long and tedious, the journey is also the most important for me. The process of learning, making lifelong friends throughout the course of my studies and sharing a smile with others is, ultimately, my goal in doing what I do with my life.Understanding concepts such as quantum mechanics is an amazing achievement, and while I would enjoy acing physics tests, it’s the study groups and fun you have which gives me more fulfillment in the end. 20 years later, when I recall the memories of my undergraduate years, it won’t be the test scores that you remember, but rather the relationships and moments we build. However, grades are also an integral part of my childhood, as expressed through my love of learning. I find satisfaction and joy in not just having fun with friends, but also in studying and learning about new things.I study for each and every test not only to prepare for the future, but also to gauge where I am along the course of my studies and what I have learned. Understanding difficult concepts is an incredible feat for me; ironically, I also find satisfaction and joy everyday from opening my chemistry book.
