Why I Do What I Do

Last night, I went to a Persian restaurant, Shamshiri Grill, with my 3 other Korean friends. They were excited because they have never had Persian food before. We ordered three Koobidehs and one Shish Kebob. Those plates were served with Basmati rice and grilled tomato. My friend, Jiyoon, asked me, "So how am I supposed to eat this?" I answered, "The best way to eat this is first, put butter on the rice and mix them so the butter can be equally applied to the whole rice, and then squash the tomato and put salt on it. Now you should eat the buttered rice with a piece of meat, and tomato." My friends told me, surprised, "I can't believe how you know all that. And you are just so Korean like us!" Eventually, I am open-minded, curious, and adventurous. I love learning about other cultures because I believe multi-cultural experience helps me accept other respects of life, and after all, lets me appreciate the world better. I got to learn about Persian culture and their history by interacting with Persian people that I met from the International Orientation last year. And now that little interest that began with interacting with a few Persians led me to planning on a trip to Iran this winter.Since I love to learn new cultures, I enjoy traveling so much. I believe traveling is the most brilliant way to explore the different part of world. Last summer I went on a trip to Thailand for a month. That trip had me so many unforgettable, precious experiences about Thai culture. I learned how to cook Thai cuisine; I saw how tribes still lived on mountains; I appreciated the beauty of Thai temples. I posted the pictures and stories about the trip on my Korean blog so other people who wanted to learn about Thailand could share my stories. By seeing those unimaginably different parts of life, I feel how amazing life is. And I am always excited to share that amazingness of life with others.
