Digital Art Earns RespectPosted 3/5/2008 @ 1:00:00 am by idoabstract.com The art world has never been quick to warmly embrace changes in medium. Even when progressive thinkers come up with creative and new ways to further branch out the artistic horizons, there are often long debates that rage about whether or not a certain medium or artistic form can truly be classified as "art." It has been the same for the digital revolution. While animators have been quick to embrace technology for their creations, the art world continued to hold itself above the medium. After all, using a computer to create artwork couldn't really be the result of any natural abilities, it was simply a matter of having the proper equipment. Right? And then came Dale Lucore, whose works proved that every artist can be measured by his or her abilities rather than their tools, even when it comes to the digital world. Somewhat of a recluse, who lives in the woods of Eureka, Montana, Lucore has been creating digital works of art that have been drawing the attention of art fans everywhere. What's more interesting, is that he has been doing all this on what he has described himself as an "ancient" computer in his cabin the woods. These works of art from the woods of Montana have been showing up in galleries from London to South Africa, as well as Los Angeles and New York, and they have been creating discussions wherever they happen to appear. It seems that even in digital art, the abilities of the artist are of much more importance than the quality of the technology that is used to create it.
