Betsey Farber

About five years ago I found a barn window, left by someone under an old pine tree deep in the woods. It was moss-covered and rotting, but the broken glass flickered with sunlight. I have documented its decay each season, and written about it. I came to recognize my fascination was with my own aging, the window was a metaphor for the patina I have acquired over seventy years, its decay my own.
