John, a math professor at ucla, has studied math since he was very young. He studied a different subject during his undergraduate years but went back to studying math in his 20s. He pursued what he enjoyed doing even though he was a bit late in the track than everyone else. He likes to do something that other people just perceive as "struggling with hard problems".
