The main background photo is an image of my family in Vietnam's boat. It is not the one that my parents took to America, but I wanted to emphasize how much the people of Vietnam still rely on boat transportation. Imagine traveling across an entire ocean in a boat of that size, filled with 10x the amount of people it should be holding, risking life or death trying to escape a war-torn country, with your entire family relying on you to make it to the golden land...that's what my parents had to go through. The bottom left photo is the main image of the flyer of this year's Vietnamese Culture Night. I love this image because if you look closely, you can see the American and Vietnamese flag meshed into one on top of the image of a Vietnamese family. I think this is a very powerful image because once coming to America, many families struggle with adjusting and making a living. I think this image really depicts the struggle of being a Vietnamese-American.
